They are the Sun, the Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu. Each of the planets have an overlord associated to them which is also part of the pooja.The overlords are Siva, Parvati, Muruga, Vishnu, Hanuman, Durga and Ganesha. Pooja is a sacred practice performed on different occasions to worship, pray or show your due respect to the God. To explain better, pooja is an act of showing reverence to the almighty through invocations, prayers (like mantras, slokas), songs, rituals and so on. Praising the God through polkas helps establish a spiritual connection between the deity and the devotee. During a pooja, various rituals are performed successively in order to trigger various positive energies and also to develop the right sensation during the pooja. Poojas are an ancient form of pleasing Gods, stemming from the "Vedic Science". A pooja can help you get well, remind relationships, find a soul mate, beget children and it may even remove bad karma or negative aspects in a horoscope or with Vastu. An essential part of the pooja is the spiritual connection the devotee crafts with the divine. Most often that contact is made possible through an external object: a facet of nature, a figurine, a vessel, a painting of God and so on.
